Eggshell Garments
2013 - 2022
Like our own skin, textiles absorb our experiences and bear the scars of our encounters
My Eggshell Garments are intended to register the impact of physical interaction between myself and others. As I hug someone, the shells crack and create a live imprint of that moment. The garments become a shared skin, a way to hold onto each other forever. They illustrate the tenuous barriers between us. They question both our need and discomfort around closeness; the need for defense mechanisms and the pain they can cause.
